Barilla Pasta Sauce & Pesti
Walk in to a supermarket in New Zealand 20 years ago, and you would be hard-pressed to find a pasta sauce – let alone the myriad of pasta sauces that are available today to accompany Kiwis’ blossoming predilection for pasta.
The popular ‘pomodoro’ – a simple blend of tomatoes and olive oil – was originally created by the poor of Naples as the ‘perfect pair’ for pasta. But as traditional red sauces were taken across Italy, then by immigrants to the US and the world, chefs explored using regional ingredients to create delicious dishes that would allow the individual flavours to shine.
It’s the same principle that has guided the creation of Barilla Pasta Sauces – an authentic, premium collection of pasta sauces which combines the superb aroma, colour and flavour of Italian food.

The chefs at Barilla have been working on a range of Family Favourite sauces with Australasian families in mind. The up-sized 575g jars of Bolognese and Red Wine & Garlic Sauce are available in New Zealand supermarkets from March 2015.
